Our Story
It all started when our founder, Zach Wei, received his first guitar as a teenager. After teaching himself to play through countless hours of practice, Zach was hooked. He loved everything about the guitar, from the versatility of its sound to the feeling of skill that came with mastering new techniques.
As an industrial design student, Zach studied the craftsmanship behind iconic guitar models. He was fascinated by the subtle complexities that went into their construction. Zach dreamed of one day designing his own professional-quality instruments that combined vintage style with modern innovations.
After graduating, Zach set up a small workshop and began hand-building custom guitars. His passion for perfection shone through in the care he took with every detail. As word spread, Zach started getting requests from local musicians. He started the Zuwei® brand to meet the growing demand.
The business soon outgrew Zach’s solo workshop. He brought together a team of expert luthiers with a shared devotion to premium guitar manufacturing. Over the past decade, we’ve expanded our catalog from a few boutique models to a full lineup of electric, acoustic, bass, and ukulele guitars.
Today, Zuwei® Guitars sells thousands of instruments annually to customers worldwide. But we still approach every guitar with Zach’s original hands-on craftsmanship. Our Nashville headquarters houses a 30,000 square foot factory where a crew of skilled luthiers hand-assemble our guitars on-site.

Sustainable Sources
We use legal and sustainable wood supplies for all our tonewoods. Our ebony comes from recycled wood, not fresh-cut forests. We only buy mahogany from licensed harvesters restoring cleared rainforest. We never use woods from endangered species. By sourcing responsibly, we protect the earth’s resources.
Non-Toxic Finishes
Many big guitar brands still use polyurethane and nitrocellulose lacquers loaded with toxins. Our Zuwei® models feature thin, non-toxic water-based finishes. They have a beautiful vintage patina but don’t offgas or leach chemicals as they age. Our planet and your lungs stay healthy.
